To business' it is important to sell to ABC1's because they are the most advantageous to advertise to because they are the ones with the largest amount of disposable income. Bauer reach 20,000,000 out of the 60,000,000 people in the UK with their products






This is a table comparing social grade and income together. Bauer reach 70% of all 15-24 year olds with their products which is over 5,000,000 people. 53% of all Bauer's audience are ABC1's the other 47% are C2DE which means they are able to target all types of people in the UK. Over 53% of Bauer radio targets ABC1's. The main Bauer commercial competitor on the radio is capital FM who are owned by a British company called Global Media. They own Heart and galaxy etc. The other main competitor is the BBC, they own BBC Radio 1 and 2 etc.  and all the local BBC stations like BBC Radio Sheffield

Hallam FM is a radio station that play adult contemporary. They are a local South Yorkshire radio station from Sheffield. They are the number one commercial station for the whole of South Yorkshire. It was launched in October 1974 and broadcasts in Sheffield, Doncaster, Barnsley etc. It has won many awards including a gold award for Best Personality by Big John.

Hallam FM has many presenters including Big John, JK and Joel Ollie and Becky Hayes etc. It competes with Capital, Real Radio, Peak FM, BBC Sheffield and BBC Radio 1. Bauer Media uses RAJAR figures to collate its listenership for all it's stations. It is more important to get accurate local figures because it is tougher to sell advertising space on the radio. RAJAR stands for Radio Joint Audience Research and it is the official body in charge of measuring radio audiences in the UK. Joint owned by the BBC and radio centre. Hallam get nearly a third of all commercial market share in South Yorkshire. They sponsor Sheffield's next comedian and School of the Week etc. They also sponsor both Sheffield United and Wednesday. Hallam can be listened to by an App, Freeview, DAB, FM Radio and the internet.
