Task 2 KTA 1

Database for Hallam FM

Presenters- Big John, an award winning breakfast show presenter, with Janine Jones, as well as Producer James.  There is also Alex Richardson who presents the days news

Jingles- A few jingles, saying when the show finishes and information about the show, this is to reinforce the brand to the audience so they return to the show the next day.

Adverts- Crystal Peaks as it is a major sponsor of Hallam as well as being a local shopping centre. Adverts from local businesses, as they will appeal to the listeners because they are around there area.
  
Music- Modern adult contemporary, popular chart music. This is because it is generally the most popular music for their target audience. It also helps them compete with their biggest radio rival, Capital FM

Vox Pops- Vox Pops are used for the traffic news, which will come from concerned listeners to give a sense of community. There is also vox pops from various charities and services from the local areas.

Discussion Topics- New album releases, Film and Christmas discussions. Discussions about the TV that will be on in the week, lots of general discussion to engage the listener and keep there attention on the way to work. Talk about the new market in Sheffield, this will help engage the listener and possibly make a start for a talking point. The discussion topics are very important as they determine whether or not the listener pays attention. Using local news will help the station maintain its firm local roots which will tempt the listener towards this station rather than its rival national stations.

Competitions/Sponsor Comps- Christmas competitions are available for listeners to enter to get the audience to carry on listening over the holidays. Competitions to win things in the local areas not only appeal to the listener, as they are accessible but also will help the local business’ get known in the community.

Local Events Sponsored by Station- Distribution of gifts for local children who are in need or ill. Advertisement for this are used and made so local people can interact and help out, this gives the radio station a sense of community to build up a warm and caring atmosphere.

How it involves the audience- Phone calls to local people about local charities. You choose the music gets the audience to tell the station which genre of music is there favorite and offers incentives like competitions so that people take part in the survey.
